September Meeting Minutes

BUSINESS MEETING Minutes of September 25, 2007 

Meeting was called to order by Lynda W.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

Treasurer Penny O. reports the current checking amount of $3536.64, and in savings, $1594.70. Note that some of these funds are payment toward the October retreat.

Day meeting report- 17 members present.

Night meeting report- we met, we visited, and it was good.

Committee reports:

  • Programs: Marilyn will have a paper piecing demo for October..
  • Monthly block lotto: Eddy and Mary: continue to make a Star block of choice, to be made in Christmas colored fabrics.  We had 11 blocks for the drawing, Mabel was the winner!
  • Raffle quilt for 2008: Eddy will be putting the blocks together, for the quilt top.
  • Hospitality: no news to share
  • 2008 challenge quilt: Roylene/ Dona are in charge-please contact them for further info.  (Visit the blog site.)
  • Christmas party: Dec. 4 at Immanuel Lutheran
  • Correspondence:  The wedding dress quilt was displayed in FW, Texas.  There were 35 quilts displayed. Habitat for Humanity would welcome donations.  Clara and her husband were featured in Tri-City Herald article.  Copy of Quilter’s Travel companion was given to the club, available for check out through Lynda.

Old business:

  • 2009 Quilt show:  No one has shown interest yet in chairing the event.
  • Quilt retreat:  26 people signed up so far, you must pay in advance. 
  • Sister’s Quilt Show-Oregon: No new information.
  • UFO report:  People are working on their unfinished items.

New business:

  • Blog, blog, blog….we will using an online ‘blog’, instead of a news letter.  Members who do not have internet, or computers were matched up with someone who does.  Please let us know if you need a ‘blog buddy’.  The web address is www.basinpiecemakers.wordpress.com.
  • Library:  Bring suggestions regarding what to do with our library.  The books need a new home, or a way to disburse the library, as it has become cumbersome.
  • Dear Jane group:  Virginia asked if there would be any interest in a Dear Jane group.  Please see her for information, check our web information.
  • Club membership:  The question came up about membership age requirements.  Leslie will research the meeting minutes and report to Lynda.
  • Program: Roylene and Dona showed ideas for the 2008 challenge.  Roylene also shared quilt binding info.
