  BASIN PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD BUSINESS MEETING

Minutes of February 26, 2008 

Meeting was called to order by Lynda W.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

Treasurer Penny O reports the current checking amount of $1818.73, and savings of, $1596.31.

Day meeting report- The day meeting was a houseful, with homemade tomato soup, and brownies.

Night meeting report-Night group was good sized, had Dear Jane show and tell, and a good visit.  We had cheesecake!

Committee reports:

Programs:. No news to share.

Monthly block lotto: Eddy and Mary: Continue on with the current theme, red, white and blue 12 ½ inch blocks.

Raffle quilt for 2008: Cindy brought the quilt and will take money for tickets sold.

Hospitality: Sympathy card to Barbara C.  Mabel gives thanks for the cards she received.  Dona S says thanks for the cards and prayers.

2008 challenge quilt: Roylene/ Dona are in charge-please contact them for further info.  (Visit the blog site.)  The challenge is due in May.  No updates here.

 Old business:

            2009 Quilt show:  No one has shown interest yet in chairing the event.  Please call Lynda and   volunteer!

Piecemaker’s Library:  Has been moved to Penny O’s.  Please contact Penny, to check out books.  Call, or stop in, if the van is there.

Telephone calling tree:  Lynda would like to have a calling tree, for last minute meeting info/updates.  We need 5 members who are willing to call our guild members. 

By-laws Committee report:  A copy of the proposed changes to the by-laws was distributed.  Discussion was had, suggestions made for changes.  The revised proposed by laws will be at our March meeting.  One item under discussion was limiting the number of consecutive years in office, with a 3 year term limit proposed by Karen C. seconded by Debbie S.  There was a suggestion of wording for the new member packet that all members be encouraged to participate in all fundraisers, including the raffle quilt.  Mary K made the motion, seconded by Penny O. Thank you to the by law committee 

 New business: 

Dues: The Dues are due! 

Quilt retreat:  April 8-13.  The sign up sheet is going around this evening.  2009 retreat dates are:  April 14-19, October 6-11.  Kokanee cabin is in charge-see LaFaun for information.

Kim Diehl:  Eddy has contacted author Kim Diehl. She is willing to come to our guild and teach.  Mark your calendars for July 19th.  The workshop will cost approx. $40.00 per person, with an additional $5 for lunch.  It was recommended that the members have a cooperative garage sale to help with costs.

Block lotto: winner for this meeting- Emmalou.

            Odessa quilt guild invited our group to their quilt ‘til you wilt marathon, March 17th.

Program: Debbie S. will speak about her patterns, and how she got started in sewing.  Thank you Debbie, for sharing your journey.  Debbie will teach an apron class, March 29th.

Brown bag, Post cards and Crazy Ladies all passed their bags.

UFO group, challenge ends April 22nd.  You need to select at least 7 quilt related items of your own to finish.  Contact Virginia C, to let her know how you are progressing. 

Dear Jane group meets the 2nd Thursday of the month, make four blocks per month.

Workshop: Promises and Possibilities

When:  Aug. 12-16

Where: Ephrata Airport community room

Description: An eight hour, five day DESIGN workshop for intermediate to advance sewers.

Cost: $350, with $100 down which will hold your place.  20 person limit, first come first signed up. Balance  due June 2, 2008.
