BASIN PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD BUSINESS MEETING

Minutes of March 25, 2008

 

Meeting was called to order by Lynda W.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

Treasurer Penny O reports the current checking amount of $2839.73, and savings of, $1596.56.

Day meeting report- Was at Melanie’s with five in attendance.  Next meeting to be at Grace’s home.

Night meeting report-Night group was great.

Committee reports:

Programs: Kim D is a go for July 19th.  We’ll be using her appliqué method and one of her new designs.  Cost of class includes lunch.  Naomi of Hummerdog will be her for our April meeting.

Monthly block lotto: Eddy and Mary: Continue on with the current theme, red, white and blue 12 ½ inch blocks.

Raffle quilt for 2008: Janet has more tickets for those who need them.  Fabric Patch will sell tickets for our raffle quilt at their show.

Hospitality: Nothing to report.

2008 challenge quilt: Roylene/ Dona are in charge-please contact them for further info.  (Visit the blog site.)  The challenge is due in May.  No updates here.

Quilt retreat:  April 8-13.  There are currently 23 people signed up for retreat.  Construction is underway at camp and our expectations may need to be lowered somewhat

 

Old business:

            2009 Quilt show:  Barb and Roylene will co chair the quilt show.  It has been put forward, that guild members could sell quilts or quilted items at the   show,     with a percentage of the proceeds going to the guild.  Cindy motioned to approve this concept and Janet seconded.  Passed by members.

Piecemaker’s Library:  Has been moved to Penny O’s.  Please contact Penny, to check out books.  Call, or stop in, if the van is there.

Telephone calling tree:  Grace, Marilyn, Mabel and Emmalou have offered to be the calling committee members.

By-laws Committee report:  Penny and Brenda have offered to make the new member packets.

 

New business:

Dues: The Dues are due! 

Nominating committee:  Cheryl W, Brenda H and Nancy L have volunteered to head the committee.

 

Program: Cheryl shared how to fold fabric for storage and better visibility.

Brown bag, Post cards and Crazy Ladies all passed their bags.

UFO group, challenge ends April 22nd.  You need to select at least 7 quilt related items of your own to finish.  Contact Virginia C, to let her know how you are progressing. 

Dear Jane group meets the 2nd Thursday of the month, make four blocks per month.

 

Day meeting: 2nd Tuesday- 10am-various homes

Night meeting: 2nd Thursday-7pm at Immanuel Lutheran

Business meeting- 4th Tuesday-7pm at Immanuel Lutheran

 


Monster Cookies

Monster Cookies, from Wilma Pittman

  1. 1 dozen eggs beaten
  2. 2 lbs brown sugar
  3. 3 lbs. peanut butter, crunchy or smooth
  4. 1 cup melted butter
  5. 1 Tbsp vanilla
  6. 1 Tbsp karo syrup
  7. 8 teaspoons soda
  8. 18 cups quick oatmeal
  9. 1 lb. M & M’s dark chocolate or reg. & 12 oz. chocolate chips, semi sweet
  10. Mix in order given and bake for about 9-10 min. at 350.
