BASIN PIECEMAKERS      March 26, 2013

Co-President, Shawlene Martin opened the meeting asking us to introduce ourselves and tell of our favorite flower quilt, imaginary or real!

Guests:   Sabrina S. and Charisma H.  And they joined our guild.  Welcome

Minutes:  They were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Checking:  $4,159.99 Savings;  $1,105.46

Correspondence:  There was none.

Day Meeting:  It was at Done S., a good time was had by all.  Next meeting is at Betty L. & Thomasene L.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

Hospitality:  Cards have been sent to Sandy T., Grace J. and Dona S.  All are doing well.

Brown Bag:   They will have their revealing in May.  So finish your project soon.

QOV:  Gloria reported she has 7 quilts to finish and send off.

Color Challenge:  Barb B. reported she has two color cards left for anyone that wants to participate.

Our two new members wanted to try it.

Block Exchange:  Mary K.  Explained what this is to the new members and others not familiar with it.

OLD BUSINESS:

Retreat:  Check the blog for retreat info.  Everyone will be responsible for their own lunches this time.  Payment for retreat should be paid tonight.  We will be making a mystery quilt at retreat and you will need

1 1/4 yards each of two coordinating contrasting fabrics.

Dues:  All but two people have paid.  Please pay soon!

Tri-Cities Quilt Show:  Several attended and all agreed that it was a very nice show and better than before.

Participation:  We need people willing to be officers and committee chairman. You can share the duties with another willing person.

NEW BUSINESS: 

Classes and Quilt Shows:  Pam Mostek class in Ephrata at United Methodist Church, April 23rd, 9:30-12:00

Ricky Tim’s Super Quilt Seminar, Sept 19-21, at the Pasco Red Lion Inn.  Make motel reservations soon.  If you are going, send your registration fee to Sally to save on the cost.  Make your check out to Ricky Tims Quilt Seminar.  Sally will send our registration in by June 10.  Information is on the table and also the blog.

Buggy Barn will have 3 designers from Australia and there will be classes.  Contact Buggy Barn for more info.

Palouse Quilt Show, April 20-21st.  Sponsored by Palouse Patchers.

Odessa Quilt Show April 26 & 27.

Wilma Pittman has a trunk show at A Quilt Challenge at the Quilt Cottage in Spokane Valley, March 15-April 30. Eddie Walker would come to M.L. to do a class on her house quilt.  Maybe next spring will work for us.

Give some thought to having a day to finish our own projects, undisturbed.

Antiques and More in Ephrata has 4 Featherweight machines for sale starting at $250.

Show and Tell:  Many beautiful wall hangings, bags and quilts were shown by members.

Program:  Nancy L. and Cindy W. told about their weekend in Portland at the Block Party with Quiltmaker event.

Name Tag Drawing:  Nancy L. won the monthly prize and Janet R. won the 3 month big prize.

Refreshments:   Nancy W. and Marilyn H.  served delicious cookies.  Check the blog to see who serves next.
