2017 Fall Retreat

It’s almost here…..

Supply list:

Demo:  bring 1 yard of fabric  and 7″ of 1/4″ elastic.

2nd Demo:  travel pillow, hopefully available at Walmart… &  1/2 yard with coordinating 8″ x 14″ piece.

LRC game:  3 green 2.5″ strips  & 3 blue 2.5″ strips.

No gift for this time.  We will be going out to dinner on Sat. eve so won’t be having the usual party.

Co-President Shawlene M. opened the meeting asking us to introduce ourselves and tell what quilting style we saw ourselves as.
 

Guests:

Our guests were Jill T from Wenatchee and two of her friends, Joan and Judy.

Minutes:

The minutes were read silently and with a motion and 2nd, they were approved as read.

Correspondence:

Shawlene read:

1. a flyer from Habitat for Humanities –Festival of Trees Event– Copies were available for members.

 

2. a Thank You card from Annie R.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Mary K report– Savings account has $1105.22, and checking has $1694.33…all bills have been paid.

Mary also brought a NEW membership list for hand out– there was a correction for Sally H.

 

Hospitality:

Emma Lou reported that she sent our cards to LaFaun J and Betty L.

Day Group:

Penny O reported that there were 10 at the meeting and next months is at Barb B’s.

Brown Bag:

Mary T did a count and it looks like they are working on their 8th or 9th month of 12. Some are ahead.

Crazy Ladies:

Barb B said to keep passing and be sure to bring them to the Christmas Party for a final reveal.

Artsy Ladies:

They finished their pass around and had a reveal earlier in the month but had a mini show and tell for the guild. There were tops shown from Barb B, Nancy W, Kathy C, Emma Lou B, MaryAnn, and Debbie S.

Block Exchange:

Lauren told about the blocks for Kathy S.

QOV:

Gloria reported on the upcoming QOV work party on Make A Difference Day, Oct 27th at Immanuel Lutheran Church 9-3:30. Bring sewing supplies or just come to be a runner and help. Also…bring a bag lunch.

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Shawlene asked how the Curved sewing class went …no show and tells though. Mary K still has two patterns for sale. Bring tops to Christ-mas party for show and tell.

 

Retreat:

Barb S gave the retreat report as being wondering as usual with good weather, a lost lady, a helicopter and a help wanted sign for next years retreat committee, LOL. There were 19 present and all very productive. Virginia C and Nancy W volunteered for next years Re-treat Committee…there is still a need for more help.

NEW BUSINESS:

Raffle Quilt:

The quilt will be on it’s first display for ticket sales at the Soroptimist Bazaar. Shawlene will set up quilt…rack is in the storage locker per Sally.

Guild members please get your raffle ticket packets from Cindy W…you can get them at the Christmas party if you didn’t get them at this meeting.

 

Christmas Party:

Kathy C reported that she has Dona S and Nancy T on her committee. Bring fat quarters and it a pot luck so bring your favorite dish. She is making party favors from recipes and asked if we had a favorite one to get it to her and she’ll include it. The party is Dec 4th…Tuesday…. at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 6:00.

NO NOVEMBER MEETING

Challenge for 2012-2013:

Barb B explained this years “color” challenge. She got the idea from a visit to the Kennewick Quilt show and thought we’d have fun with it too. Your finished project must be 14″ x 24″….after drawing your color card from her, you must use at least 10 colors on that card and may add 3 or 4 contracting colors. Anything goes…pieced, applique, bottom can be straight, curved or have hangie things. Due date: Sept 2013. She also showed a packed of fabric that would work great for this challenge that she got from the Stitch n Post Quilt Shop.

Road to California:

Dona S reported that she and Mary Ann B are going to the Road to California and invited others to join them. They will leave here on jan 24th 2013….Contact Dona if you want to come along.

Name Tag Drawing:

Tonight’s winner was Wilma P…The big , BIG, 3 month winner was Kathy C.

We had an amazing program from Jill T of Wenatchee. She’s a long time quilter, sewer, actor?, and a self taught, 13 year longarmer. Great , Great Program.

 

Treats: Wonderful Halloween treats were served by Artie J with help from Kathy C. No treats for Nov and Dec.

 

Mable H and Kathy C have treats for January 2013.
